Description
English: The 30 m high Mutterturm [Mother's Tower] was built by Hubert von Herkomer in ~1880~1888, to honour his mother who deceased in 1879 in its nowadays sidehouse.

To which extent Henry Hobson Richardson, the designer of Herkomer's Lululaund, might have been involved, will remain uncertain. HvH did probably not meet Richardson, one of his sitters in 1886, before that year, but he was with high probability aware of Richardson's style several years earlier.

The tower's sidehouse, formerly a residential building, houses the Landsberg Herkomer Museum since 1990.
