Summary

[edit]
Description The Mute Swan is a fairly common bird, but thanks to its beauty and grace, I never tire from admiring it. And as the symbol of love, there must be something special to it, right? So here is a bird not caged for a change. And this Mute Swan was poking about with his head inside the water and had just looked up, hence the water droplets falling from his beak. Native to much of Europe and Asia, and (as a rare winter visitor) the far north of Africa, the Mute Swan is also an introduced species in North America, Australasia and southern Africa. The name 'mute' derives from it being less vocal than other swan species. More notes in subsequent captions. (Butterworth, Penang, Nov. 2013)
