Schluß. * Ein Krieg ist nur dann gerechtfertigt, wenn er zur unabweisbaren Notwendigkeit geworden ist. und wenn beide Teile fest entschlossen sind, den Kampf vollständig auszufechten.
(Bemerkung: Bei diesem Thema lassen sich mit Leichtigkeit passende Beispiele heranziehen, die das in unserer Disposition Gesagte begründen.)
H7. Ans Vaterland, ans teure» schließ dich an. Eiuleitung. Falsch ist der Ausruf: „Wo ich's gut habe, da ist mein Vaterland". Eigennutz, Selbstsucht, Unverstand sind die Quelle solcher Ansicht. Die ganze Welt kann niemandes Vaterland sein. Man soll sich nicht durch die Fremde blenden lassen, sondern ein warmer Freund seiner Heimat bleiben.
Was bin ich meinem Baterlande schuldig?
Ich danke ihm:
1. Meine Vorfahren, meine Familie gediehen im Vaterlande und bereiteten mir den Lebensboden.
2. Bildung und Erziehung. Besitz.
3. Erwerb. Stellung. Amt.
4» Wohltätige vaterländische Einrichtungen. Schutz in Gefahren, Krankheit, Invalidität, Alter usw.
L. Ich bin der Heimat dafür schuldig:
1. Treue Liebe. Treue dem angestammten Herrscherhause.
2. Nützliche Arbeit im Frieden. Tapferkeit im Kriege. Mut. Nationalbewußtsein. Nationalgefühl, Volksleben.
Entschlossenheit. (Es kann das schöne Gedicht von Ernst Moritz Arndt: „Vaterland und Freiheit" herangezogen werden; es fängt an: „Wo dir, o Mensch, Gottes Sonne zuerst schien".)
Schluß. Ich will nicht blind sein gegen Unvollkommenheiten. Danach als Bürger meines Landes streben, sie zu bessern. Öffentliche Tätiakeit. Uns eint ja alle: Liebe zum Vaterlande.
US. IVie geht eine Feuerbestattung vor sich?
Weite Kreise unserer Bevölkerung haben erkannt, daß es volkswirtschaftlich und ethisch von höchstem Werte ist, unsere Toten zu verbrennen. Wir folgen dabei wieder einer alten deutschen Volkssitte, die nur im Laufe der Jahrtausende in Vergessenheit geraten war.
Im Publikum ist ganz allgemein die Ansicht verbreitet, daß die Einäscherung unmittelbar durch die Flamme des Brennmaterials geschehe und daß die Asche desselben sich mit der des Leichnams mische. Tatsächlich kommt der Leichnam weder mit
