Schluß. So sind alle Jahreszeiten reich an Schönheiten und an Fülle des Segens; alle verkünden die Weisheit und Güte des Schöpfers; alle bringen uns Freuden der mannigfaltigsten Art.
89. Der Granit.
Der Granit bildet einen Hauptbestandteil vieler Gebirge, z. B. der Alpen, des Schwarzwaldes, des Erzgebirges u. a. Auch die „erratischen Blöcke" oder „Findlinge", die sich im norddeutschen Tieflande vielfach finden, bestehen größtenteils aus Granit. Betrachte ein Stück Granit! Du siehst, daß es aus Verschiedenen Gemengteilen zusammengesetzt ist. Er besteht aus Feldspat, Quarz Und Glimmer (Katzengold). Der Feldspat bildet die Hauptmasse. Von ihm erhält der Granit auch hauptsächlich seine FärbuHg: rötlich, grau oder weißlich. Die drei Gemengteile sind außerordentlich fest miteinander verbunden. Daher kommt die große Härte des Granits. Versuche, ihn mit dem Messer zu ritzen ! Er läßt sich nicht ritzen. Stellenweise zeigt er eine glasartige Grundmasse oder glasartige Einschlüsse. Man nimmt an, daß er auf ähnliche Weise entstanden ist wie die Lava; seine Bestandteile bildeten einst eine glühende, geschmolzene Masse, die beim Erkalten fest wurde. Trotz der Härte ist der Granit, namentlich der feldspatreiche, nicht vor Zerfall gesichert, da der Feldspat sehr leicht verwittert. Er läßt dann Tonerde zurück. Die Verwitterung erklärt es, daß sich Reste von Granit fast überall auf der Erde finden. Durch Ver- Witterung und Abbröckelung des Granits entstehen auch die Hörner, Grate und Zinken in den Alpen. Man benutzt den Granit zu Mauer- und Pflastersteinen. Da er sich polieren läßt, so verwendet man ihn auch zu Denkmälern, Säulen, Sockeln usw.
99. Etwas von der Wärme.
Nehmen wir an, unsere Leser hätten in der Fortbildungsschule oder in einer anderen Lehranstalt eine Physikstunde gehabt, in der von der Wärme gesprochen worden wäre. Nach der Stunde oder nach mehreren Stunden läßt der Lehrer einen Aufsatz fertigen Wer alles das, was im Unterricht behandelt worden ist. Der Aussatz dürfte dann etwa folgende Gestalt annehmen. .
