Allgemeine Belehrungen für den, der das
Aufsatzschreiben erlernen will.
1. Was ist ein Aufsatz?
Nimmt man das Wort „Aufsatz" in feiner natürlichen, Nächstliegenden Bedeutung, so versteht man darunter ein Ding, einen Gegenstand, den man auf einen anderen bereits fertigen Gegenstand oder Körper stellt, und zwar gewöhnlich zum Schmucke oder Zierat. So setzt man einen Aufsatz auf den Schreibtisch, auf den Schrank, den Ofen usw. Es folgt aus dieser natürlichen Bedeutung, daß eine Sache, der ein Aufsatz „aufgesetzt" oder hinzugefügt wird, in der Regel schon fertig und vollendet vorhanden sein muß, wenn sein Aussehen durch einen „Aufsatz" noch erhöht und veredelt werden soll.
Ein Aufsatz in unserem Sinne aber bedeutet etwas anderes, trotzdem eine Ähnlichkeit vorhanden ist. Ein Aufsatz im Sinne unseres Buches ist ein geschriebenes, zusammenhängendes Ganzes von Gedanken über einen Gegenstand sinnenfälliger oder innerlich-geistiger Art.
Notwendige Bestimmung ist noch, daß beim eigentlichen „Aufsatze", dem Aufschreiben des Wesens einer Sache, dieser vorher hinlänglich besprochen, mindestens vorher eingehend durchdacht worden ist.
„Einen Aufsatz machen" heißt also, die im Kopfe vorhandenen an sich fertigen Gedanken über irgendeinen Gegenstand in die Form der schriftlichen Darstellung fassen.
In der Schule wird der Gegenstand (das Thema) des Aufsatzes durch den Lehrer bestimmt; das Nachdenken über die Aufgabe oder das Thema wird durch den Lehrer im Schüler oder in der Schülerin geweckt und geleitet (man sagt: der Aufsatz wird vom Lehrer „vorbereitet"), und dann erst tritt die
