Title
Musket Gun Flint (ventra surface)
Description
English: This flint has been worked to be used as a musket gun flint. Although this piece was not finished, the long, parallel edges and the squared surface, on the dorsal surface of the flint (which has been created through knapping) suggest that further working would have knapped the flint into chamfered squared gun flints. The reverse of the flint (the ventra surface) still has a bulb of percussion, showing where the flint was originally stroke off the core. Reworking has been carried out along the edges, but this work again has not been finished. At first glance the flint appears to be of Mesolithic origin, but on closer examination a much more modern date seems more practical.
