O Museu de Artes Decorativas está instalado num solar urbano situado no largo de São Domingos, onde também fica a Igreja do convento da mesma evocação, mandado construir pelo Santo Frei Bartolomeu dos Mártires. O Edifício foi mandado construir em 1724 pelo cónego António Felgueiras Lima e nele ficava hospedado o arcebispo de Braga D. Rodrigo de Moura Teles, quando se deslocava a Viana, a banhos. Mais tarde foi comprado pela família Barbosa Teixeira Maciel, ficando conhecida pela Casa dos Barbosa Maciel. Trata-se de um belo edifício de linhas barrocas, embora com elementos clássicos, como são os frontões triangulares que encimam as janelas. No interior do edifício, para além da escadaria de acesso ao piso nobre, um conjunto de três salas com rodapés de azulejos azuis barrocos historiados, representando cenas galantes, cenas de caça e uma sala com um excecional conjunto de painéis que representam as quatro partes do mundo (Europa, Ásia, África e Américas), demonstrando como Viana foi uma terra virada para o mundo e recetiva ao encontro de outras culturas. O edifício original tem ainda uma pequena capela com um magnífico retábulo de talha Barroca e as paredes decoradas por azulejos assinados pelo mestre Policarpo de Oliveira Bernardes. Ala Nova Em 1993 foi acrescentada uma ala nova ao museu, da autoria do arquiteto Luís Teles (que recebeu uma menção honrosa no Prémio Nacional de Arquitetura) com Galeria para exposições temporárias, reservas e gabinetes de trabalho e auditório, que permitiu o desenvolvimento de uma atividade museológica mais consistente. <a href="https://www.cm-viana-castelo.pt/visitar/turismo-e-lazer/museus-e-espacos-museologicos/museu-de-artes-decorativas/apresentacao/" rel="noreferrer nofollow">www.cm-viana-castelo.pt/visitar/turismo-e-lazer/museus-e-...</a> |
