Português: A construção da casa foi iniciada por volta de 1906, por Adam Vier, com a finalidade de abrigar um salão de bailes, uma pousada e um pequeno comércio. Mas quem terminou e usou o prédio foi Jacob Vier, seu filho, que foi morar no mesmo prédio.
O primeiro prefeito de Dois Irmãos, o Sr. Prof. Justino Antônio Vier, nasceu neste salão. Em 1928, Jacob Vier permutou a propriedade com 2,5 hectares de terras, junto com o salão, com seu cunhado Felipe Vier pelo moinho que existia ao lado do Rio Cadeia e construído por Jacob Schneck. Na década de 30, depois do falecimento prematuro do Sr. Felipe Vier, a mãe e os filhos se transferiram para Porto União, em Santa Catarina. Somente o Prof. Laurindo Vier ficou em Santa Maria do Herval e lecionou e várias escolas, sendo também vereador por Dois Irmãos. Ele utilizou o salão como moradia por muitos anos. Em q952, com a Fundação da Sociedade União Hervalense, alugou o salão como Sede Social. Em 1956, a sociedade comprou o Salão Meurer e transferiu a sede para a nova propriedade. Este salão foi alugado várias vezes para a instalação provisória de indústrias calçadistas. Em 1997, a Prefeitura adquiriu o imóvel. O Museu conta com um vasto acervo de utensílios usados pelos antepassados na cidade, itens de carpintaria, cerâmica, costura, artefatos diversos do cotidiano dos imigrantes europeus. Além disso, abriga o Memorial da Arquitetura Germânica, um dos maiores acervos de maquetes do estilo no mundo, produzidas pelo artista Iteno da Silva, todas representando prédios que já existiram ou ainda existem na região, uma verdade relíquia!
