Armored Units Museum of El Goloso Verdeja self-propelled howitzer, 75 mm. It is a prototype of a Spanish project made in 1945 for the purpose of replacing the T-26 and Panzer I light tanks then in Spanish Army service. It is named for Captain Felix Verdeja Vardales, who started the project in September 1937 when he was in charge of the workshops company of the Combat Tank Battalion of the national side in the Spanish Civil War. The car was built by the Spanish Society of Shipbuilding (SECN) of Reinosa, in Asturias. Economic problems led to abandon the project. The prototype was neglected for many years in the old Polígono de Experiencias de Carabanchel in Madrid. In 1973 it was sent to the Quartering Alfonso XIII in Seville, now abandoned, which then served as the basis for Sagunto Cavalry Regiment No. 7, dissolved in 1995. In 1985 the prototype was sent to the Military Bass of El Goloso, which now hangs in the museum's hangar. |
