Vehículo blindado semioruga M-3A1, conocido en España como Camión Oruga Blindado (COB). Empezó a fabricarse en Estados Unidos en la primavera de 1941 en su variante M-2 (unas 13.500 unidades) y M-3 (unas 43.000 unidades), convirtiéndose en uno de los vehículos más famosos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Las primeras unidades llegaron a España en febrero de 1956, desembarcando en el puerto de Cartagena. El Ejército español recibió 258 unidades en sus variantes M-3A1 de transporte de personal (154 unidades), M4A1 equipados con un mortero (12 unidades), M16 de protección antiaérea equipados con 4 ametralladoras pesadas Browning M2TTHB (14 unidades) y M14 de transporte, armados con una ametralladora ligera (78 unidades). Todos estos vehículos fueron dados de baja en el Ejército de Tierra entre 1965 y 1974, siendo sustituidos por Transportes Oruga Acorazados (TOP) M113. The Spanish Army received 258 units of M-3A1 variant of personnel carriers (154 units), M4A1 equipped with a mortar (12 units), M16 of antiaircraft protection equipped with 4 heavy machine guns Browning M2TTHB (14 units) and M14 of transport armed with a light machine gun (78 units). All these vehicles were retired of the Spanish Army between 1965 and 1974, being replaced by armored personal carriers M113. |
