Giustina Lambertenghi Recalcati fu una nobildonna, marchesa, benefattrice dell'orfanotrofio Maschile, al quale lasciò £ 60.000 nel 1820. La casata dei Recalcati è presente a Milano già dal XIV secolo. Oltre alla bellissima villa di Casbeno - acquistata da Paolo Andrea e oggi sede della Provincia- la famiglia possedeva case da nobile a Malgrate, a Monticello Brianza, ad Appiano e ad Oggiono, nonché immobili di diversa tipologia nel borgo di Monza, tra cui la villa Keller Melzi. Agli inizi del XIX secolo l'immenso patrimonio dei Recalcati viene disperso. Giustina Lambertenghi, anch'ella di nobile e ricca famiglia, rimasta vedova nel 1787 senza discendenti, lo lasciò in eredità ai parenti Melzi di Cusano e Scotti di Vigoleno. Antonio Durelli realizzò questo, che fu l'ultimo dipinto in ordine di tempo, per il Pio Albergo Trivulzio. L'ambientazione è tradizionale, con la benefattrice seduta nel suo studio e recante nelle mani il proprio testamento, una posa consueta tra XVIII secolo e primo Ottocento, che avrebbe lasciato presto spazio alla collocazione dei personaggi in ambiti più naturalistici o quotidiani. |
