Description
Español: Locomotora 220-2005 | Oeste 9 | Año 1881 | Alemania | 739 CV | 90 Km/h. Concebida para el remolque de trenes de viajeros en líneas de perfil favorable, fue la más rápida del siglo XIX en España. Por su estética y prestaciones es precursora de las locomotoras rápidas de comienzos del siglo XX. El modelo 2-2-0 American, muy usada en EE.UU, fue encargado por la Compañía del Ferrocarril de Madrid-Cáceres y Portugal (MCP), integrada desde 1928 en la Compañía del Oeste, y en RENFE desde 1941. Su rapidez comportaba una disminución de la capacidad para arrastrar grandes cargas por perfiles sinuosos. La abundancia de éstos es la razón del escaso éxito de esta clase de locomotoras especializadas, frente a otros modelos mixtos. Sólo cinco máquinas constituyeron la serie, que en 1953 fue dada de baja a excepción de ésta, utilizada en la estación de Madrid-Delicias como caldera fija hasta 1960.
