| Description | The Deutsche Reichsbahn built this replica of "Der Adler" (eagle), the first German locomotive, in 1935, on the 100th anniversary of railroads in Germany. The original was designed by George and Robert Stephenson in England, and shipped in pieces to Germany for assembly. Its first run was from Nürnberg (Nuremberg) to Fürth, a distance of 7.45 km (4.6 miles). This replica was destroyed in a fire in the German Transport Museum in Nürnberg, but has since been rebuilt. |
