English: Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262, 1st Marine Air Wing, offload relief supplies at Tacloban Air Field here, Nov. 15. The MV-22 Ospreys of VMM-262 provide unique capabilities to the delivering of supplies to remote locations, being able to insert vertically on nearly any terrain, carrying more cargo and travelling faster than the helicopters utilized for supply delivery. There are currently eight VMM-262 Ospreys aiding in the delivering of supplies, which is to date more than 623,000 pounds of relief aid. The 3rd MEB is currently supporting the Armed Forces of the Philippines in providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief to areas affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. |
