Description
Italiano: Per la determinazione dell'indaco si pone in un pallone B una soluzione di indaco in acido solforico, scaldando all'ebollizione per rimuovere l'aria. Tramite la bottiglia D si genera anidride carbonica (ad esempio con HCl e marmo) che viene lavata in una bottiglia C per rimpiazzare l'aria nel pallone B ed escludere l'ossigeno atmosferico. A questo punto si titola l'indaco tramite la buretta A con una soluzione di ditionito fino a decolorazione e mantenendo la temperatura sui 100°C.
English: To determine the indigo content of a dye, in a round-bottom flask B is placed a sulphuric solution of indigo, boiled to remove air from the system. Bottle D is used to generate a stream of carbon dioxide (e.g. with acid and marble) which is then washed in bottle C and used to exclude oxygen from the apparatus. Now, the indigo solution is titrated while at around 100°C with a dithionite solution from A until colourless.
