Description
English: Column of sandstone, erected 1843 in honour of Velten (Valentin) Muhly. He was commander of the citizens guard of the town Ziegenhain. During the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648), on 15 November 1640, Muhly is said to have stood at this place, when he shot and killed the imperial general Hans Rudolf von Breda.
Deutsch: Eine kannelierte Sandsteinsäule, im Jahr 1843 von den Ziegenhainer Bürgern errichtet, zu Ehren von Velten (Valentin) Muhly, Kommandant der Ziegenhainer Bürgerwehr. Er soll im Dreißigjährigen Krieg, im Gefecht am Riebelsdorfer Berg, am 15. November 1640, von hier den Kommandeur der kaiserlichen Truppen, General Hans Rudolf von Breda, erschossen haben. Dieser soll etwa 280 Meter südöstlich gefallen sein. Dort steht ebenfalls seit 1843 ein Obelisk, der ebenfalls an dieses Ereignis erinnert.
