Description
English: Muga Veenai, more than 2000 years ago. Region: Tamil Nadu, Material: Wood. It is very similar to Nadaswaram. This is said to be the precursor to Nadaswaram. It is performed rarely in some parts of Thoothukudi, Virudunagar and Madurai. It was once a common instrument played in Vaishnavite worship. Even today, it is played in Mylapore Kabaleeswarar Temple's Tirukalyana Utsavam's Karpagambal procession.
தமிழ்: முகவீணை, காற்று இசைக்கருவி, தொல் தமிழ் இசை, சுமார் 2000 ஆண்டுகள் பழமையானது, இடம்: தமிழகம், மூலப்பொருள்: மரம். நாதகவாரம் போன்று ஆனால் அதை விட குட்டையாந்து பரவலாக அறியப்பட்ட நாதகவரத்தின் ஆதிவடிவம் தூத்துக்குடி, விருதுநகர், மதுரை ஆகிய மாவாட்டங்களில் இக்கலை மிகச் சிலரால் நிகழ்த்தப்படுகிறது. ஒரு காலத்தில் வைணவ வழிபாடுகளில் முதல் இடம் பிடித்து இருந்தது. இப்போது தெருக்கூத்தில் குறுங்குழல் என்ற பெயரில் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. இன்றும் மயிலை கபாலீசுரர் கோயிலின் திருக்கல்யாணத்தின் போது கற்பகாம்பாள் ஊர்வலத்தில் இசைக்கப்படுகிறது முகவீணை.
