English: Mug, pewter, pear shaped drum, plain rim with incised ring just below, broken handle, ball terminal additional comments; description- “Footed.” makers comment- “If the hallmarks are correctly identified, the maker is Joseph Morgan (PS6542-OP3289).” other comments- “Hallmarks of these shapes are characteristic of Birmingham. The hallmarks of Yates, Birch and Spooner (PS75-OP5349, 1829-39), for example, are very similar in outline. These hallmarks do seem closest to Joseph Morgan's, but if so, that is a little surprising because the W IV implies this was probably made between 1830 and 1837 and we didn't think Joseph Morgan had started his Birmingham business as early as that.
