English: (1 in a multiple picture set) At the Visitor's Center (housed in the old Mt. Baldy School building) they have a recreation of a Tongva Indian village. The structure on the left is a dwelling, and the one in the background to the right is a ceremonial kiva. We were struck by the fact the the kiva (partially buried in the ground) is much like the kivas we saw in Mesa Verde which were built by Anasazi many centuries ago.)\ |
