Mr. Kittredge [sic] A. Wing Superintendent U.S. Dept of the Interior Gettysburg National Military Park Gettysburg, Penna. Dear Mr. Wing: Our plans seem to be taking shape for August 25 and there are several matters which I am in doubt about. 1- Is it possible to rent or borrow State flags to be used at the monument? We will need the flags of the fourteen States participating. These should be fair sized flags which will circle the base of the monument in front of the name of each State. Also it is possible to rent the flag stands. If each Governor of his representive [sic] brings his Flag we will still need the stands. Also a large American Flag with stand will be needed. 2- We are ordering wreaths from a Gettysburg Florist for the States. All will be alike. 3- On the lists which you sent, had you included the name of your Mayor? The invitations will be sent from Richmond and I have sent the list to our office there. Mr. Hartzog will be present if possible, but if he cannot be there to accept the monument, he will ask that Mr. Clarke Stratton represent him. 4- Should we contact the press and the T.V. ahead of time or will the invitation be sufficient? We would like to have good publicity. I am sorry to have to bother you with these details. Judge Beard and I will try to drive up before the end of July. Sincerely, Maynelle S.
