Mr. Kittredge [sic] A. Wing Superintendent Gettysburg National Military Park Gettysburg, Penna. Dear Mr. Wing: Thank you for the invitation list. This is very helpful to us. Will you please advise me as to the proper person to accept the monument. It is my opinion that we should ask Mr. Hartzog as the top Park official. On the other hand Mr. Lee has been very helpful to us. What is protocol in this case? I believe that 400 chairs will be sufficient. We are undecided about whether we should have Senator Ervin speak at the Hotel or not. If this is done then Mr. Ross said that additional chairs could be place in the back of the room for those who may not be attending the luncheon. We want everyone to be present for his address if they wish and yet the possibility of rain or excessive heat gives us some concern. Busses will be at the Hotel to transport all guests to the Park for the dedication. Loud speakers should take care of the “hearing” problem. You may be interested to hear that the Florida Senate has approved the appropriation for the monument and now we feel sure before August 25th these funds will be sent in. In 1963 there was lack of understanding and some confusion over the other funds for the monument which was their State monument. Very sincerely, Maynelle S. Smith Mrs. Robert Hamilton Smith
