Description
English:

White paper with handwritten black text

This work is being done by the 11 Confederate States + the 3 Border States, the 11 giving the larger part. Each column on this design represents a state with the name on top. The figure can be Williams or a private in the Confederate Army. Is this a suitable monument for such a purpose or would it be better to have just the figure of granite placed like the one of Union Army – We will unveil at Vicksburg Miss,, on Oct. 25th the same monument we placed at Gettysburg last Sept. I have had many words of praise of their monument and very sorry that I will never see any of them. So far Georgia, Virginia, Miss., La., and Maryland have met their quotas for the monument. The other states do not convene their legislatures until 1963 and this work must be done by legislative action. As Chairman of Hall of Fame Committee of Ga., we are unveiling 4 marble busts of Georgia Chief Justices in December in our new Judicial Building. They are being made by Bryant Baker, sculptor of N.Y. of finest Italian marble. Please send me your pamphlets on Gettysburg Park, I have a nephew who must write a paper on Gettysburg, and he has appealed to me for help – Thanking you and extending the best of wishes Sincerely Gertrude Kibler
