Description
English: Mrs. Emily Alder was a volunteer nurse during the American Civil War. When her husband, Henry Alder, was shipped off to war as a member of the 13th Wisconsin Volunteers, she followed him to the front lines of the war, and was stationed at Paducah, Kentucky and Fort Donaldson, where she fell ill six months into her tenure as a volunteer nurse, and was sent home. Post-war, she was a member of the National Association of Civil War Army Nurses, and resided in Clarion, Iowa.
