Description
English: The Matabele War. Illustration for The Graphic, 15 August 1896.

Caption Reads: After Mr. Burnham had shot the “god” Mlimo in his cave he and Mr. Armstrong made their way as quickly as they could down the hill, at the foot of witch they had left their horses. Then, while Burnham got the horses ready, Armstrong set fire to the “holly” krall, which consisted of some hundred huts. This done, they mounted their animals and rode for life back to Mangwe, hotly pressed by the natives at first.
