[edit]DescriptionMountain bluebird at Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge (47421907622).jpg |
Mountain bluebirds have recently returned to Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge. They immediately start to look for a suitable nesting cavity. A pair found my vehicle particularly interesting, seeing reflections of another bluebird in the windows and mirrors. They repeatedly attempted to drive the reflection away. Certain species of birds are known to exhibit this behavior during the nesting season, when competition for nesting territories is high. Slowly driving away stopped the attacks, but what to do if they attack a stationary object such as windows on your house or other buildings. Follow the link for some suggestions. www.allaboutbirds.org/why-birds-hit-windows-and-how-you-c... Photo: Tom Koerner/USFWS |
