| Description |
English: Mount Taranaki, New Zealand. At the lower left corner, rainforest on the Pouakai Ranges, a little below the peak, the so-called "Turtle", a massive rock formation which is about to erode and break away from the mountain. Above the Mountain, a Swamp Harrier (Circus approximans), on the lower edge of the picture, you can also see a canyon, made by the erosion of the Stony River.
Deutsch: Mount Taranaki auf Neuseeland. In der linken unteren Ecke Regenwald, der der das Poukai-Gebirge bedeckt. Knapp unterhalb des Gipfels befindet sich die sogenannte „Schildkröte“ (Turtle), eine Felsformation, die in der Erosion begriffen ist und kurz davor steht, herabzubrechen. Über dem Berg ist eine Sumpfweihe (Circus approximans) zu erkennen, am unteren Bildrand sieht man das Felstal des Stony River. |
