Description

O Mosteiro de São Bento, localizado no centro da cidade de São Paulo, no Largo de São Bento, próximo ao Vale do Anhangabaú, é um dos edifícios históricos mais importantes da capital paulista.

O conjunto todo é o Mosteiro de São Bento, o qual tem em sua portaria o principal acesso onde os monges que aí vivem em oração, ficam de prontidão a receber todos os hospedes e visitantes, acolhendo assim os que vem à vida de oração, retiro, ou procuram orientação espiritual ou confissão; nele há a clausura monástica, a Basílica Abacial de Nossa Senhora da Assunção (elevada a esta dignidade em 14 de junho de 1922), onde há o coro para o ofício divino rezado diariamente pelos monges e a missa é celebrada, ambos no rito monástico e com canto gregoriano, e Colégio de São Bento e Faculdade de São Bento.

Em maio de 2007, hospedou o Papa Bento XVI em sua primeira visita ao Brasil.
