Italiano: "La tela presenta il momento della morte di Carlo Felice di Savoia (1765-1831), ultimo re di Sardegna del ceppo dinastico principale, cui successe al governo dello stato Carlo Alberto di Savoia-Carignano (1798-1849). L’opera è firmata da Luigi Bisi, artista milanese specializzato nella riproposizione dettagliata di avvenimenti storici in interni, come nel caso in esame. In particolare ripropose scene ambientate all’interno di edifici sacri. L’artista godette dell’apprezzamento sia di Carlo Alberto che di Vittorio Emanuele II che acquistarono ripetutamente sue opere in occasioni delle annuali esposizioni torinesi e milanesi. Dal momento che Bisi nacque nel 1814 non è pensabile che l’opera sia coeva ai fatti rappresentati, anche se Bisi nel 1831 partecipò alla mostra annuale brandente. Tuttavia, l’illustrazione della camera di parata di palazzo Chiablese a Torino, dove ebbe luogo la morte del sovrano, è molto attenta e potrebbe rifarsi a cronache o memorie di contemporanei, anche per il corretto posizionamento dei vari personaggi della corte in occasione del triste evento. La cronologia dell’opera proposta dalla critica è intorno agli anni Cinquanta-Sessanta dell’Ottocento, nel momento di esaltazione delle memorie dinastiche sabaude connesso all’epopea risorgimentale. Le indicazioni inventariali apposte sul retro della tela e le tracce dei restauri precedenti, rilevate in occasione dell’esposizione dell’opera nel 1991, inducono a ritenere che l’opera sia stata donata al principe Umberto in data anteriore al 1933 e u successivamente trasferita presso il Castello di Racconigi, dove il principe ereditario stava allestendo la sua quadreria di ritrattistica dinastica" [1] |
