Localizado na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, o Morro do Pão de Açúcar um dos principais cartões postais da cidade, é o mais alto do complexo do Pão de Açúcar que também integra o Parque Nacional da Tijuca, com 395 metros acima do nível do mar é constituído por um bloco único de gnaisse-granito com mais de seiscentos milhões de anos de idade. Ele é conhecido mundialmente pelo sua teleférico e vista panorâmica da cidade.

Segundo alguns historiadores, a origem do nome do morro vem da semelhança dele com a forma que os blocos de açúcar que eram preparados para serem levados das colônias para a Europa, denominada pão-de-açúcar.

Located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, the main Sugar Loaf Mountain one of the postcards of the city, is the highest in the Sugar Loaf, which also is part of the Tijuca National Park, 395 meters above sea level is constituted by a single block of granite-gneiss with more than six hundred million years old. He is known worldwide for its cable car and panoramic city views.

According to some historians, the origin of the hill's name comes from his resemblance to the way that sugar blocks were prepared to be taken from the colonies to Europe, called Gingerbread sugar.
