Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Morning Glory Pool is a famous hot spring in the Morning Glory Group of Yellowstone's Upper Geyser Basin (northwestern Wyoming, USA). The name is in reference to its color and shape being similar to morning glories, a type of flower (e.g., see: www.flickr.com/photos/25587109@N06/2903184981/in/photostr... ). The main road used to be next to this feature - numerous tourists stopped and threw stuff in the pool (nature-hating tourists still do this sort of thing today, sadly). All the garbage in Morning Glory Pool partially clogged its plumbing system, resulting in cooling and a color change from blue to yellowish and greenish (see elsewhere in this photo album). A siliceous sinter border formerly existed at the periphery of the spring, but it was entirely removed (vandalized) by tourists long ago.
