| Description |
English: Morden Bog, Dorset. Morden Bog today lies largely hidden in the forestry plantations that almost surround it. This would once have been open heathland and is a dramatic reminder of the huge loss of heathland that has occurred in the last 250 years. The internationally rare valley mire is one of the largest of its type in the UK and supports many rare plants and invertebrates. Two historic open waters survive and the Old Decoy Pond is seen here. It is fairly inaccessible and is a haven for waterfowl. This important site is a National Nature Reserve managed by English Nature:
