Title
English: Moran-Lakeside School mailer, Seattle, 1921
Description
English:

In 1919, Frank G. Moran, founder of the Moran School for Boys on Bainbridge Island, opened an additional boys' school on Lake Washington in Seattle's Denny-Blaine district. Named Moran-Lakeside School, it lasted for four years before a series of changes in ownership, name, and location. Today, as Lakeside School, it serves both boys and girls at its campus in North Seattle. Sometime in early 1921, the Moran-Lakeside School invited boys to join in a variety of activities on Saturdays. The mailing was addressed to mothers and its stated purpose was to keep boys busy and off the streets. Called Lakeside Pioneers, the boys participated in nature activities, sports, hiking, stamp collecting, camera work, and other pursuits. They also heard lectures and learned parliamentary procedure. The $15.00 weekly program proved so popular that all spaces filled within a few days.
