Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Mooring Sinkers at Loe Beach Each large concrete block is a sinker for a boat mooring. At the beginning of the season a work boat drops the sinker to the bottom in its allocated position. A large ring is embedded in the concrete and chain, rope, and marker buoy are all attached to the sinker. The sinker tends to settle into the muddy bottom under its own weight and provides a (usually) secure base for the mooring though they can occasionally drag under storm conditions. Different size blocks are used for different size boats. The sinkers are usually lifted at the end of the season and brought ashore or above the low-tide mark. These are still waiting to be laid.
