Object history Sold at Gros & Delettrez 16 December 2008, lot 367.
Notes Monvoisin painted for the first time a picture of Ali Pasha & Vassiliki in 1832 and exposed it the next year at the Paris Salon; the oil was taken by him with some other 20 pictures when he left France for Chile; now that big picture (345 × 272 cm) is in the Palacio Cousiño, in Santiago. An oil of the same composition in reverse, was sold at Gros & Delettrez 16 June 2014, lot 20, as attributed to Monvoisin. Another oil of the same composition and almost the same dimensions as the one sold in 2014 was sold at Sotheby's 29 April 2015, L15030; 16,875 GBP
