English: Top of the monument to Cervantes (1925–30, 1956–57) at the Plaza de España (Spain Square) in Madrid. Below the cornice, a relief of the Spanish coat of arms. Above, five female figures, representing the five Continents, read Don Quixote while holding up a globe, symbolizing thus the universal dissemination of the novel. These sculptures were made by Lorenzo Coullaut Valera (1876–1932) between 1925 and 1930.
