Description Monumental brass of Henry Grey (1520-1545), "Harry", son and heir apparent of Henry Grey, 4th Earl of Kent (1495-1562), Grey Mausoleum, Flitton, Bedfordshire. He was the father of Reginald Grey, 5th Earl of Kent (1541-1573). Brass removed from church and now in storage. "This was on the floor of the mausoleum and the oldest artefact there. It was originally on a wall of the church but was placed on the floor of the mausoleum at a later date. The brass was removed from the church before 1908 (as reported in the VCH 1908 edition ('Parishes: Flitton cum Silsoe', in A History of the County of Bedford: Volume 2, ed. William Page (London, 1908), pp. 325-333 [1] and is now (2020) "in storage" (i.e. lost!) after conservation work by English Heritage at Wrest Park. "There exists a detailed drawing from 1813 by Thomas Fisher 1772- 1836. "Collections historical, genealogical and topographical for Bedfordshire / etched and engraved ... from original drawings" ... by Thomas Fisher, Part III, 1813, Plates, Plate 9. He published 95 plates from his drawings of monumental and other remains in Bedfordshire, and in 1828, he published 50 copies of 37 drawings entitled 'Monumental Remains and Antiquities in the County of Bedford) (Source: Margatet Butt, "Thomas Fisher 1772- 1836", Village History, Parish Newsletter of Flitton, Christmas, 2020 [2]).
