Español: Monumento a Matías Rodríguez Mellado en la plaza homónima de El Palo, Málaga, España. El busto en bronce, inaugurado el 24 de junio de 1986, retirado por obras temporalmente y reinaugurado en 2004, es obra de la escultora Leslie Sánchez Orellana. Originalmente estuvo situado en el centro de la plaza, colocado más tarde sobre un pedestal de ladrillo en uno de sus extremos y mirando hacia fuera de la misma, orientando el rostro en dirección a una calle cercana que conduce al mar. Representa y recuerda a Matías Rodríguez Mellado (1884-1937), pescador de El Palo muy querido por sus vecinos debido a su buen talante y predisposición al bien común, las obras de caridad y la asistencia a huérfanos. Fue promotor de las paradas biológicas que favorecieron la sostenibilidad medioambiental y la recuperación de los caladeros de pesca de la zona. En 1929, fue nombrado Delegado de la Mutualidad de pescadores. Al estallar la guerra civil, trató de impedir la quema del colegio San Estanislao de Kostka y la parroquia de las Angustias. Murió en la cárcel represaliado por la dictadura franquista. El busto le representa recogiendo sus rasgos fisonómicos esenciales de manera sintética y con ciertos toques primitivistas, como si hubiesen sido dibujados sobre la superficie de bronce. La inscripción en la placa situada en la cara frontal del pedestal dice: «Matías Rodríguez Mellado / 11 de febrero de 1884 / 5 de septiembre de 1937». Anteriormente lucía una placa con la siguiente inscripción: «En recuerdo / de / Matías Rodríguez / hombre de esta orilla / Marzo 1986».(Sánchez López, J. A. La voz de las estatuas.
