Description

Mural monument to Joyce Hardwick (1510-1585), Church of Saints Theobald and Chad, Caldecote, Warwickshire. Inscribed in Latin: Jocosa Purefoy vixit annos 75 obiit ... Martii Anno Dom 1585. Joyce Hardwick (1510-1585) was a daughter and co-heiress of John Hardwick of Lindley, Leicestershire, and married Michael Purefoy (d.1570) of Caldecote. See Purefoy pedigree in: "FENNY DRAYTON AND THE PUREFEY MONUMENTS", BY GEORGE F(RANCIS) FARNHAM, AND ALBERT HERBERT, published in Transactions of the Leicestershire Archaeological and Historical Society, Vol.14, 1925, pp.84-112[1][2].
