日本語: 日本の駅伝発祥の地の記念石像（京都市西京極総合運動公園）
京都は1917年に「東京遷都50周年」を記念した、「東海道駅伝徒歩競走」のスタート地（三条大橋）であり、ここから東海道五十三次を23区間・508㎞にわたって走破するというものだった。東西対抗戦形式で、関東チームが勝利、そのアンカーは金栗四三であるとされている。
