Dari website Dinas Pertamanan & Pemakaman DKI Jakarta: Taman Patung Diponegoro sebelumnya terkenal dengan patung Kartini, karena di atas taman tersebut berdiri Patung seorang ibu yang diidentikan dengan Ibu Kartini, yang kini ditempatkan di Taman Medan Merdeka. Patung Diponegoro dibangun atas prakarsa dan sumbangan PT. Ciputra Group yang dibuat oleh pematung Munir Pamuntjak. Taman tempat berdirinya Patung Diponegoro, sebenarnya merupakan pulau jalan yang berfungsi sebagai pembagi sirkulasi. Taman ini tepatnya berada di depan Gedung Bappenas, sehingga dikenal pula dengan taman Bappenas. Taman dengan luas 2.736 m2, saat ini dipenuhi dengan komposisi tanaman semak berdaun indah. Jenis tanaman semak yang mendominasi adalah Ubi jalar (lpomea sp.) dengan daunnya yang berwarna hijau cerah menjadi aksentuasi visual bagi pengendara kendaraan bermotor disekitar taman tersebut. Patung yang berdiri di hamparan bunga-bunga rambat yang didominasi warna hijau dan jingga dibagian pinggir. Dari kejauhan tampak jelas patung yang menggambarkan Pangeran Diponegoro sedang menunggangi seekor kuda. Terletak dipertemuan Jalan Diponegoro dengan Jalan Imam Bonjol. Diapit dua objek yaitu Gedung Bappenas dan Taman Suropati. Diresmikan oleh Gubernur DKI Jakarta Sutiyoso tanggal 6 Desember 2005. The statue is located at 2.736 metre square park, commonly referred as "Taman Bappenas", is located near Bappenas building, and intersection between Jalan Diponegoro and Jalan Imam Bonjol. The park and the statue was unveiled by then Governor Sutiyoso on 6 December 2005. |
