Description

Document BANQ / Montreal Map: Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois (1821-1897) L'enclave de la Ferme Logan (futur parc Lafontaine) et sa situation dans l'environnement montréalais en 1869. Au milieu du XIXè siècle, Montréal se développe et s'étend vers le Nord en suivant d'anciens axes routiers comme les chemin Saint-Laurent et Victoria (actuel ave. Papineau) ainsi que le chemin des Carrières. La rue Saint-Denis n'avait pas encore totalement atteint ce secteur, passé ave. du Mont-Royal (ancien chemin du Mile End) c'était, à vrai dire, la campagne. Détails intéressants, on mentionne une église (Saint-Enfant-Jésus) directement au Sud d'un axe qui deviendra l'avenue Laurier et au centre de la carte le tracé d'un important rond de course de Chevaux.
