Archives du Musée McCord / Richard Dillon, (1772-1856), dessin (détail). Malgré sa facture naïve, ce dessin rend avec une certaine justesse l'aspect et l'environnement champêtre de l'ancienne ville au tout début du XIXè siècle. Nous voyons ici le secteur centre avec l'enceinte des Fortifications en évidence ainsi que la porte Saint-Laurent, unique accès sur le côté Nord des murs. Cette porte s'ouvrait sur un chemin qui menait au faubourg Saint-Laurent. Le clocher à gauche est probablement celui de la chapelle des Jésuites. |
