English: Italy, Tuscany, Montecatini Terme, Piazza del Popolo. The Basilica Santa Maria Assunta work began on July 21, 1957, it has a plan star shaped, it was inaugurated on September 29, 1962 and consecrated on August 13, 1988 by Bishop Giovanni Bianchi. It is situated on the same place of the old church built between 1822 and 1833 on project of Luigi de Cambray-Digny in neoclassical style, on June 15, 1912 it was appointed parish. The new church was elevated to Basilica by Pope John Paul II On September 25, 1988. Here is the plaque to remember the mass celebrated on October 11 and 12, 1945 by Pope John XXIII. |
