| Description |
English: Montagu Steps The steps are just visible as a thin line down the far headland. They are constructed from granite slabs and were put in place to facilitate the salvage of HMS Montagu, a battleship that sailed into Lundy in 1906. The point of impact was just beyond the headland - this is the easiest point of descent to sea level. There is no trace left of the ship, though I believe there are still steel plates rusting away on the seabed. |
