Description JOPLIN, Mo. -- Tim Gouger, a debris subject matter expert and contracting officer representative at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Joplin Recovery Field Office, checks the progress of debris removal here July 12. By July 17, USACE contractors had removed more than 1.23 million cubic yards of debris from public rights-of-way and private property damaged or destroyed by the EF-5 tornado that struck the city May 22. Gouger is one of more than 300 USACE employees who have volunteered to support the federal recovery efforts here. (U.S. Army photo/Mark Haviland)
