English: Monar Dam - Upstream Face & Spillway Gates. The only double arch dam in the UK, Monar dam is very thin compared to a normal dam and is curved in two planes to close off a narrow gorge, creating Loch Monar. The dam is at the head of the Strathfarrar section of the Afric-Beuly hydroelectric scheme in the Scottish highlands. |
