Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Monar Dam - Downstream. Close-up of the valves at the base of Monar Dam. On the left is a flow regulator valve occasionally used to release "freshets" into the otherwise dry head of the River Farrar and, very occasionally, when the spillway gates cannot cope with very high water in the loch. The spray is leakage of water under immense pressure. The middle jet is for releasing compensation water but is not used as this is released via Misgeach Power Station in the next valley. On the right is the de-watering valve which would only be used if the Loch had to be emptied.
