Description

Monument funéraire de la femme de Jules Nathan dit Jules Rais.
Erigé en 1901 au Cimetière de Préville à Nancy.
Architecte: Girard
Sculpeur: Pierre Roche (1855-1922)(un parisien)
Décor floral: Henri Carot (1850-1919)
Lys en grès émaillé: Alexandre Bigot (1862-1927)
Placé dans le jardin du Musée de l'École de Nancy en 1969

Le monument funéraire, érigé en 1901 au cimetière de Préville de Nancy, est l'oeuvre de l’architecte Girard et du sculpteur parisien Pierre Roche (1855-1922). C'est en souvenir de sa jeune femme que Jules Nathan dit Jules Rais, critique d’art originaire de Nancy, fit construire cette sépulture, ornée de vitraux à décor floral d’Henri CAROT et surmontée d'un lys en grès émaillé d'Alexandre BIGOT (1862-1927). Cette œuvre constitue un des premiers exemples d’architecture funéraire ArtNouveau à Nancy et fut placée dans le jardin du Musée de l'Ecole de Nancy en 1969.
