This type of cable is used to supply a power connector to one or two SATA drives in a PC that has no or not sufficient native SATA power cables/connecors, by connecting it to an available (free/unused) Molex connector. Because it is a split/twin cable, it can be used to supply power to two drives using only a single Molex connector.
