English: Moel Hebog mine - underground workings This is a 'stope' on the main level at Moel Hebog copper mine, a stope being an area where the vein is being, or has been, worked out. The timbers or 'stemples' were put in place to provide working platforms for the miners digging out the vein above their heads. |
